Be Your Own Boss

FREELANCING

Today is world of mobiles phones, laptop, internet and social networking. Today world is coming closer and closer. It is actually on our fingertips now. So the opportunities to work as freelancers have increased multiple fields. There are absolutely n numbers of opportunities for any of us. There are millions of opportunities in the field of content writing, web designing or programming. In fact, any work that can be done remotely is available for freelancing. The best aspect of being a freelancer is that you can choose your work load, exact field of work and work on your terms at a comfortable schedule right at the comforts of your room. Imagine earning a handsome amount without being restricted to one chair or one room for about 8 hours! Sounds too good to be true, isn’t it? But it can be true, if you have the skills.

First and foremost advantage of freelancing is you can work from any location you feel comfortable. You even don’t have to get out of your bed. You will be your own boss. You can work as per your own schedule. You can work whenever you want. You can choose exactly what sort of work you want to do. You don’t have to worry about being fired, as freelancing is totally based on payment per assignment. You can set your own rates for work. You can make more money than regular employees as you get paid more for your work. As companies can afford to give you little more as they don’t have to worry about heavy employee benefits. Most of your income is not-taxable, although you can make it taxable at your convenience. There are no dress codes which I personally hate the most. You can choose your own holidays and take vacations whenever you find suitable without any hassles.
But you also have to look at the other side of the coin. As there are advantages of being freelancer, there are some disadvantages also. Like freelancing demands strong self-motivation, as there will be no one to push you or motivate you to complete the job on time. You will have to monitor your job yourself. Unlike regular employees, you will have to work extra hard to stay ahead of competition and must keep promoting yourself through various channels, so that you will get more work and keep getting it. In freelancing there is hardly any scope to grow in terms of career. You have no job security, as the risk of being unemployed runs high. If someone is willing to do the same work for lesser money than you most probably won’t get the job. You will have a lot of distractions, if you are working from home. Also, keeping work separate from personal life can be really difficult. You need to be always available so that clients can contact you. There is always a risk that your client may pay you less, late or might not pay you at all for the work. There are no laws to protect you from frauds by clients.
